Rock Wall by Arkay Evans
…An Original Love Story.
Here along familiar roads,
where lush and heavy limbs
are rich with juicy passion fruit
I am small,
Climbing on the rock wall
thinking every nook and cranny
threatens the fall…
step right, push down
grab left, pull up
watch for loose, weak stones
hangin’ on sheer luck
My mind went adrift into the breeze,
back to see the beauty rooms
my satin pumps and matching slip
glued his eyes into my hips
ignoring silence served
in unwritten rules of social streams
where spirits all around were mean,
because the alpha fell
for a strong Black queen…
Concentrate; look around.
Don’t rely on sheer luck,
grab left, pull up
step right, push down…
Only dreams of heaven seem to be
stamped into my memory-
we fell in love and grew
into one from distant two
and all must know
that even along the turns and folds
of old familiar roads
We are small…
Like pebbles on the rock wall,
Easily dislodged
Distracted and called
By what is lush and rich,
the true love juice of passion fruit;
the kinda love that levitates
when all else falls to ill repute
